For the Election of 2013 in Houston, Texas, we had a few guest speakers running for City Council. Write a "Thank You letter" to them, including a thoughtful comment about what they talked about, the election results, and the propositions and the things they want to accomplish in office. Write a rough draft of your letter in your notebook and post the letter here.

I've been neglecting my blog/s this semester and have suddenly gotten a burst of energy and inspiration. I have so many project ideas to do with "my seniors", but it seems like there isn't enough time.  I don't have them for very much longer and I sincerely want to have them do  meaningful, memorable & worthwhile projects/assignments.
We haven't focused as much as I would like on current events this semester. So, my latest idea is to have them post a link about an important current issue/event and give their 2¢!  The students' 2¢ must demonstrate intellectual curiosity, thoughtful conclusions, and strong convictions. 
Students can use the previous current event assignments criteria to give them some ideas. This blog comment/post will count as a quiz grade. Since the link will be posted & published on my blog for #the world to see, there is no need for "citing your sources", as it were. However, I encourage "quoting" from the article.
